Solar systems are best costed by the amount of watts you pay for your money, IE watts per €, for example a typical 3000W per day system could cost as little as 7000€ and therefore would be costed as 2.34€ per watt production capability. This is a very good way of comparing different systems for value.

Planning permission

Although not generally required in Spain you may have to get planning permission to fit a PV system or particularly if you choose to use a wind turbine. Always check with your local authority about planning issues before you have a system installed.

Maintenance

Solar Systems require very little maintenance. You just need to ensure that the panels are kept relatively clean and that shade from trees isn't a problem. If you have Flooded Lead Acid batteries(know as FLA) you should take the Specific gravity readings at least once a month and check weekly to ensure the liquid level as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

The wiring and components of the system should be checked regularly by a qualified technician. (at least once a year)

Wind Turbines

Wind turbines use the power of the wind to turn blades and a rotor to create electricity. Wind turbines are especially effective in Coastal areas or in mountain areas where frequent and persistent winds are available, Wind turbines are particularly useful for renewable energy input during nighttime when power usage can be higher and there is no Solar input.

Great care should be taken in purchase a wind turbine, particularly in ensuring the batteries have sufficient capacity. Wind turbines will require some maintenance, and can create some low levels of noise. Larger units may require planning permissions and your local authority should be consulted prior to installation.
